STL Mesh Validation Checklist for 3D Printing

Manifold Mesh Integrity

The mesh must be 100% water-tight (manifold). Self-intersections or open holes will crash typical slicer toolpaths.

Unit Scale Verification

STL carries no built-in unit headers. If a model imports 25.4x too small, check whether millimeter vs inch scale was mismarked.

Normal Vector Correction

Every triangular facet has a front face and back face (normal vector). Inverted normals cause printing voids and slicer errors.
